Denby Dung-Cabaldon is a Clarinetist and Emcee with the Royal Hawaiian Band, a Music Instructor at Chaminade University, the on-camera Host of The Pet Hui on OC16, and a Flight Attendant at Hawaiian Airlines.
A graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa with a Bachelor of Education Degree in Secondary Music, Denby has taught general music, band and chorus at numerous schools.
Denby has performed in Diamond Head Theatre musical productions You Somebody (Miss Hawaii #3), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Ginger), Meet Me in St. Louis, Flower Drum Song, and The Producers. She has also appeared in Hawai‘i Opera Theatre’s A Little Night Music and Ohia Productions The Princess and the Iso Peanut (Princess Adobo).
In 2001, Denby was honored to represent her island home at Miss America as Miss Hawai‘i promoting her platform entitled The Music Effect, exploring the positive effects of music as an essential part of a complete education. The contestants began their first day of rehearsals in Atlantic City on September 11, 2001. Through that experience, the girls bonded and wrote a book together entitled Under the Crown: 51 Stories of Courage, Determination and the American Spirit.
Denby recently appeared on Hawaii 5-0 as the Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant who discovers a dead body in the lavatory. Other film and television experience includes commercials for Aloha Kia, Central Pacific Bank, Subway, Mamo Howell, Party Dress by Claudette, and Oceanic Cable. She has been featured in the Award Winning Louis Vuitton Hawai‘i International Film Festival Trailer, Deal or No Deal Australia, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Denby and her family are fosters for the Oahu SPCA and have five rescue dogs of their own—Whitewater, Harley, Stitch, Gage and Shiloh.
