Jeri Evans began playing part-time with the Royal Hawaiian Band in 1987 and was privileged to receive the full-time second flute position from 1992, then the first flute position from 2008 to the present. She studied flute with Jean Harling, principal flutist of the Honolulu Symphony, from the eighth grade through college.
During high school she belonged to the Hawai‘i Youth Symphony Orchestra and was a two-time recipient of the Morning Music Club Scholarship for both piano and flute. She has soloed with the Hawai‘i Youth Symphony and in Youth Concerts with the Honolulu Symphony. She participated with the McDonald's All-American Band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Rose Bowl Parade, and toured Europe with the Young Americans in Concert Orchestra as principal flutist.
She attended the University of Hawai‘i, earning a Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in performance on piano and flute.
Jeri is married to Jeff Evans, former band director at Hawaii Baptist Academy, and has three grown children and one grandson.
She teaches flute and piano privately and plays piano at her church.
