The Royal Hawaiian Band: Lifeblood of the People


On Monday, October 22 at 8 p.m., KITV will broadcast a special program called The Royal Hawaiian Band: Lifeblood of the People. It is a telling of the Royal Hawaiian Band's history from its inception during the times of the Hawaiian monarchy all the way to its present state as an agency of the City & County of Honolulu. The program explores the band's connection to the development of Hawaiian music and its personification of Hawaiian culture throughout time. Helping to tell the story of the band are island luminaries Jimmy Borges, Robert Cazimero, Mamo Howell, Nina Keali‘iwahamana, and Karen Keawehawai‘i, as well as bandmasters Clarke Bright and Aaron Mahi. Be sure to tune in or set your DVR's because this is a special fans will not want to miss!
