Royal Hawaiian Band
Ka Pāna Ali‘i ‘O Hawai‘i, est. 1836

Domenico Moro
January, 1941 - February 9, 1955
Born, raised, and musically trained in Sicily, he left his home to join the U.S. Navy and became the youngest bandmaster ever appointed in the Navy's history. During a station at Pearl Harbor he fell so in love with Hawai‘i that, though he left for the mainland, he returned 2 years later to stay for good. As bandmaster, the level of the band's proficiency was raised and so did the musicians' salaries.
